about

"This is great stuff"

"Much in the way FSOL did on their album, “Dead Cities,” Shall Remain Nameless achieves this through haunting dark electronic effects, instrumentation and myriads of voice samples"

"Probably the most intriguing and accomplished record from Shall Remain Nameless since the excellent Entitled album" www.indierockmag.com/article36790.html

Following recent news coverage of Kensington, Philadelphia, anonymous electronic maestro Shall Remain Nameless was inspired to create a sinister, complex ode to the socially and economically devastated Philly city. Disturbed by the images of homelessness, drug addiction, and squalid conditions, for this eighth studio album, "Kensington, Philadelphia Soundtrack," SRN attempts to evoke the darkness of the murky, drug-infested, lawlessness of Kensington street life.

While travelling through the city while going about their lives, local residents are shocked and frustrated to see their once-loved hometown fall further into the mire of disrepute. Using a newly acquired wavetable synthesizer, ‘Waldorf Microwave XT, and MPC X to sequence the Microwave XT’s sounds, along with samples found on YouTube as a catalyst, SRN set to work on this concise, clearly conceived soundtrack of raw, dark, minimal electronica.

Chronicling the concrete jungle that is Kensington, the album features snippets of dialogue from those on the fringes of society. Meanwhile, the album’s sound design goes from the spacey tinkles of the intro, “Times Ticking," to the industrial echos of “Shattered” and the avant-garde tribal rhythms of “Fake Anne.” With the album’s jarring intensity and unflinching social commentary, the "Kensington, Philadelphia Soundtrack" stands out among SRN’s musical output. Always willing to push boundaries, the uncomfortable subject matter of this project asks the listener to question where they might be if their life had taken a different path. Another solid addition to the faceless and mysterious artist’s back catalogue.
